The UH-1H Huey utility helicopters of the 82nd Aviation Brigade provide the riflemen of the 82nd Airborne Division with airlift capability for quick in-theatre redeployment and for air assault combat operations for insertion into the enemy's rear area.
Each Huey is fitted with a pair of M60 machineguns mounted at the side doors to give covering fire during landing and unloading or loading of passengers. The M60 door guns are crewed by a dedicated door gunner and the crew chief. The UH-1 Huey transport helicopters are available for air assault operations. These allow the riflemen to land behind enemy lines and quickly seize vital objectives.
