Whenever the troopers from the Territorial Defense Regiments are deployed, they expect
to see action, and not stand by (and woe betide any officer who pretends otherwise!), as
they are as eager to engage in a fight as a rabid barsuk (Russian for “badger”), ready to
tear apart any Antipode hunting party. The Konduktors (?????????) are the guards of
the Trans-Tartarian trains, and their answer to any raid is always the same: blazing gunfire at point-blank range. You may be able to board their train on your legs, but if you don’t
have a ticket, you’ll leave on your back.
