The Cult of Yurei recruit followers from many backgrounds - some join due to poverty, hunger, or poor treatment at the hands of the Samurai - but Shichiro simply joined because he was born bad, and quickly became obsessed with the Cult and the many strange ritualistic activities performed by followers.
