These undead fiends once believed themselves to be regal nobles and still expect to be treated with the respect that level in society brings. But in reality, they are loathsome crazed cannibals. Rotten blood-stained skin is stretched across dead flesh and organs, and the bones of deformed skeletons protrude from these corrupted monsters. Others have taken on more animalistic features and appear like towering man-sized bat creatures. They regularly hunt together in their courts targeting the living like animals to sate their bloodlust. Many flee in horror, but those unlucky or too slow have their blood sucked dry and their flesh is torn apart and consumed. Those who are not devoured are themselves turned into these undead horrors and ghouls and become part of the pack.
In the twisted minds of the Cryptguards, they are not wielding rusted relics, filigreed masterpieces, heirlooms of a glorious, delusional past. Yet, beneath these delusions lies the grim reality: rusted iron singing a dirge of decay, each clang bringing the promise of festering wounds and minds unravelling into gibbering madness.
