Given time and resources, a Malignus in a sizeable nest may build the vat-farms and tissue synthesisers necessary to mutate the weakest runts in a litter into the ferocious monsters known as Nightmares. Theories are that Pack leaders are a recent development. Maybe a Malignus somewhere has been experimenting and has discovered a synthesiser stable enough to use on itself?
