Centuries before the events of the End Times large scale battles were waged. Forces of good and evil collided as they battled for surpremacy: armoured knights on warhorses charged the frontlines against those weaving powerful sorceries.

The Old World is a tactical tabletop game where players use strategy and units of various armies in clashes on a large scale where precise movement and positioning can result in victory or defeat.

The Empire of Man is a powerful human nation in the Old World. It's a collection of city-states that often squabble among themselves, but can unite under strong leadership to face external threats. These threats include the chaotic forces of darkness, the savage Orcs and Goblins, and the monstrous Beastmen. The Empire's armies are vast and varied, including knights, mages, and common soldiers.

Against forces which can control supernatural forces, to the hordes of barbarians the Empire deploy large mortars and cannons to equal the playing field. With steel and black powder, the gunnery crews fire off explosives causing enemy forces to panic.
