The Conquest of the New World almost died with Hernan Cortes at Otumba as Aztecs surrounded his small force and Tlaxcalan allies. In the heat of battle, he noticed a group of priests and leaders directing the Aztec army. He charged with four other cavalrymen, killed the leaders, and sent the Aztecs into disarray. A little over a year later, the Aztec Empire fell.
