Dark Angels are genetically modified superhuman soldiers, the elite warriors of the Imperium of Man that defend the galaxy against the forces of Chaos and the Xenos scum that wishes to destroy us. Though a powerful chapter tirelessly defending the Worlds in the Imperium to the end and seen by others as some of the greatest of warriors, they hide an ancient secret, a bane against their history that they will conceal at any cost. After The Horus Heresy had ended the Dark Angels returned to Caliban after the war, but they were fired upon by the planetary defences. Forced to assault their own homeworld the Loyalist Dark Angels found that their brethren had betrayed them. After successfully taking back their stronghold a warp rift was opened in the planet by the chaos Gods during a fit of rage, resulting in the traitorous "Fallen Angels" being scattered throughout the galaxy. One of the most notable of the "Fallen Angels" who escaped was Cypher, who reportedly took with him the Lion Blade, the sword of El'Jonson, when he was sent through the warp
